So, it’s been a week since I officially launched my Etsy store; ok so it wasn’t really a launch, more of a – hey I have more than one item listed.
The main thing is that I haven’t had my account suspended, which as I spoke about last week, could have been a possibility. Which means I feel comfortable starting to promote it a lot more than I have been.
No sales yet, but I wasn’t expecting to (though obviously would have been nice), but it’s slow for many this time of year, especially with the Easter Holidays. I have however had a few visitors to my store, most I think came from my Pinterest pins.
I’d never thought about using Pinterest before, but after chatting in a group with someone else who finds she gets a lot of sales from her pins, I figured it couldn’t hurt to post there too.
Next, I need to post more on Instagram, including making some reels (aaaggghhh), and revive my Facebook page. Both have very few followers, but I’m not surprised due to how little I post to each.
Anyway, back to Etsy. Below are my stats for the past 30 days, the majority of these are since Monday April 3rd, before that I only had 4.

What’s the difference between visits and views.
Visits = the number of people who have been to your store homepage or an item listed found through searching Etsy, or by clicking on an external link taking them directly to it.
Views = during that visit, they stayed to view more than one item, which is obviously a good thing.
Many open stores and feel like they have failed as they’ve not had any sales straight away, or very few – often made by friends and family.
A lot of the time, it’s because they’ve watched others launch their stores live on YouTube or Instagram, and see all the sales they’ve instantly had. But this is often due to the fact they already have an audience. They’ve been posting videos and reels, teasing their followers about their products. And now the items are available people buy them because they’ve seen what’s been in the making and also want to be a part of it.
Me, I’m more someone who likes to slip in through the back door, not make a big song and dance about it, and quietly say “Hello I’m here too if you want to take a look”. I know I’m probably not doing myself any favours, but that’s just who I am.
I do have plans to start a YouTube channel, but it’s more going to be about how I make and design things even though I have some difficulties, rather than a studio vlog. And I think it’s more important for me to get my store up and running and list what I have to sell, as like everyone else I have bills to pay. Then I can look at becoming an international YouTube phenomenon 🤣
