It’s got to be Perfect – Not!

Oh, why do I always strive for everything to be beyond 100% perfect!
All it does is make me put off finishing things.

I’d still not completed my 1st YouTube video.
Initially, I uploaded one, but then realised I didn’t include everything I wanted to.
So back to the drawing board.
2nd time around I did what I should have done before even picking up the camera, and wrote an outline and a script; I’m not the sort of person who can just naturally talk to the camera.
I then got to filming the parts I wanted to add but found it difficult to read the script as I was demoing. It’s a bit like when I used to play the guitar, I couldn’t sing and play at the same time; was either one of the other lol

Some of the audio with video was ok but other parts, not so much and I decided to do voiceovers and got to recording those.

So I had all my files, MP4’s and some WAV’s, and I had to combine it all together. Simple I thought! No, I realised that either my video was too long, and voiceover too short, or vice versa.

I’m using the free version of Davinci Resolve to do everything, though I do have to convert the format my videos are recorded in as I’m using an old camcorder that saves files as .avi; I found a free app called Handbrake to do this.
Fortunately, there are numerous YouTube videos on using Davinci Resolve, so I watched a few, and then a few more, you know just to be sure – a typical delaying tactic of mine

And that was where I left it – until a couple of days ago.

At first, I couldn’t remember where I’d saved everything; when I found my files they were all together in a folder I’d set up in a very logical place on my PC. Then I had to go through them again to see what went with what, and which files I could delete.
I finally got around to piecing everything together, either clipping video or sound files so they fitted together, and putting them in the order I wanted each segment to be in the video.
It took me some time, but I learned a lot; beyond what I’d learned from the numerous YouTube videos, including how to add in some title pages, and shortcut keys for navigating around the software – that was the biggest timesaver.

I also wanted to add in chapters, so if people want to get to a point in the video quickly they can – that fortunately turned out to be very easy.
It’s not perfect by any means, mainly the audio is a bit dodgy, but it’s done and published, though only for who/where I wish to share the link, for now.

And finally on to Bitly to create a QR code. I want to include it not only in my packages when I sell my decals, but also on a listing photo so people can go to it before purchasing.

Now that it’s done, I can finally feel confident about adding decals to my sticker store – hope to start taking photos tomorrow.
Ok, so I could have done so without having a video, but I wanted to ensure people had a guide on how best to apply them, you know, so they’re perfect lol
